Sahuaro forward Alyssa Brown became the sixth girls basketball player in Arizona history to reach 2,500 career points with her 34 points in a 79-8 victory over CDO on Tuesday night.

Brown, a 6-foot-1 forward bound for UNLV, has reached 2,525 career points with three regular season games remaining, including a return trip to face CDO on Wednesday night.

She moved to No. 4 on the Arizona career scoring list on Tuesday passing Ashley Wirtzberger (2,505 points from 2006-10 with Yuma Catholic and Gila Bend) and Kayla Mackenzie (2,515 from 2006-10 with Kellis).

Brase, Lute Olson’s granddaughter, went on to star at Arizona. She is now an assistant with the Phoenix Mercury.

Sahuaro, ranked No. 2 among 4A teams in the state, improved to 13-0 overall and 4-0 in the 4A Kino.

Seton Catholic, the No. 1-ranked team, lost its first game of the season on Tuesday, a 42-30 outcome against Hamilton.
