Yuma City Road Report, October 23
A weekly list of city projects or Yuma City intervention permits that affect busy roads.
Slurry sealer and oil seal; 16th Street and Arizona Avenue
Yuma City’s slurry seal and oil seal applications will impact several major streets, neighborhoods, and a major intersection over the next several weeks, but will provide an improved driving surface and appearance when completed. Working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some weekend work to minimize the impact on busy streets.
While most of the work is done in subdivisions, area drivers are particularly advised to apply oil sealant at the intersection of 16th Street and Arizona Avenue are slated for October 29th. Lane restrictions apply on this day.
Liquid manure sealing program
From October 26-30, the crews will be working at Atmar 1, 2. Brookhurst; El Descanso; La Mesa Park; Palmcroft Estates; Westridge Estates; Palo Verde Estates Unit 3.
October 31st and November 1st on South Park Industrial District major arteries, 3rd Street from Avenues A to 4th Avenue.
Oil seal program
Drivers are asked to pay attention to lane restrictions. Traffic control is set up to indicate detours to alternative routes.

City street maintenance
Maintenance on City Street for the week of October 26th to November 1st will take place in the following areas:
Mending road asphalt
Palo Verde Street from Arizona Avenue to Winsor Avenue.
3rd Street from 4th Avenue to Avenue A.
Palo Verde Street from Avenue 2½ E to Avenue 3E.
Potholes on East 26th Place from Arizona Avenue to San Marcos Drive.
Potholes at 1100 block of east 23rd place.
Sidewalk concrete repairs
Ponderosa Valley, multiple locations.
2600 block from S. 30th Drive.
3000 block of W. 27th Lane.
Northeast corner of 29th Drive to 27th Lane.
27th place to 29th drive.
2900 block of W. 26th Lane.
2800 block of W. 26th Lane.
2700 block from W. 29th Drive.
2900 block of W. 24th Lane.

Palo Verde Street, Catalina Go to Arizona Avenue
By mid-March, a contractor will be making street and sidewalk improvements in the areas around Catalina Drive and Palo Verde Streets east of 4th Avenue to 32nd Street and north along Palo Verde Street. The work will result in road restrictions along Palo Verde Street and Catalina Drive. Sidewalks will also be closed and street parking restricted. Traffic control is set up to indicate detours to alternative routes.
Main Street, 3rd Street to Giss Parkway
By the end of December, a contractor will be installing a new raised zebra crossing along with modified improvements to curbs, gutters and walkways, as well as improvements to point drainage. The work will require a brief road closure on Main Street between 3rd Street and Giss Parkway at a later date. Traffic control will be in place and redirect to alternative routes.
Other supply projects and intervention permits
8th Street, 21st Avenue (SW Gas)
Southwest Gas will install gas pipelines between July and November. The traffic control will be in place, change lanes and reduce the speed limit to 40 km / h.
Avenue B, 28th Street (APS)
From September to December, APS will install a new transformer and work on existing pylons along the west side of Avenue B south of 28th Street. Lane restrictions are required for work.
4th Avenue, Catalina Drive (Cent. Link)
Century Link will work on communications lines through early November. The work requires lane restrictions at the intersection of Catalina Drive and 4th Avenue.
8th Street, 21st Avenue (APS)
By early November, APS will be removing and replacing lines along the north side of 8th Street and working on an existing pole near the corner of 8th and 21st Avenues and pulling cables along the west side of 21st Avenue. Lane restrictions and a speed limit of 35 miles per hour are required to work. Carefully walk through the area.
Arizona Avenue, Mesquite Street (SW Gas)
Southwest Gas will be working on gas pipelines. This three month project involves changing lanes along Arizona Avenue. Completion is expected for the end of December.
Arizona Avenue, Country Club Drive (APS)
APS will operate along the south side of Country Club Drive from September through December. The work requires changing lanes and a reduced speed of 40 km / h.
3E Avenue, 38th Street
A building contractor will be pouring concrete for new commercial driveways by the end of November. The work requires changing lanes on Avenue 3E between 38th Street and 38th Square and a reduced top speed of 40 km / h.
16th Street, Yuma Palms (Cent. Link)
Starting October 6, Century Link will be working on communications lines along Yuma Palms Parkway at the corner of 16th Street. Lane restrictions are required for work. The work is expected to be completed in early December.
24th Street, 22nd Drive (APS)
By early December, APS will replace a damaged pole along the north side of 24th Street and 22nd Drive. The work requires lane restrictions and a reduced speed of 40 km / h.
Yuma Palms Parkway, Castle Dome Avenue (Cent. Link)
Starting in mid-October, Century Link will be working on communications lines along Castle Dome Avenue, which will result in lane restrictions and a top speed of 40 km / h. The work is expected to be completed in mid-December.
Avenue B, 16th Street (Cent. Link)
Century Link will operate on communications lines along Avenue B between 16th and 15th Streets and will require lane changes. The work will take place between mid-October and mid-December.
Catalina Drive, 29th Street (Cent. Link)
Century Link will operate in the Catalina Drive and 29th Street area through December. Drive in the area with caution.
Pacific Avenue, 24th Street (Cent. Link)
The crews will have access to shafts for repairing telephone cables by mid-November. The work will require lane restrictions at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and 24th Street.
7th Street, 12th Avenue (SW Gas)
Beginning October 19, Southwest Gas will install infrastructure at the intersection of 7th Street and 12th Avenue. Road and sidewalk restrictions and a reduced speed limit are required for work. The work is expected to be completed by the end of October.
16th Street, Avenue A (private)
A private contractor will be pouring concrete for curbs and sidewalks at the intersection of Avenue A and 16th Street October 15-23. The works lead to lane restrictions and the sidewalks are closed. The work is expected to be completed by October 23.
1st Avenue, 19th Street (private)
A contractor will treat the groundwater in existing wells by October 28th. The work will require lane changes along 1st Avenue and 19th Street. In addition, street parking will be limited and sidewalks will be closed. Traffic control will be in place and redirect to alternative routes.
3E Avenue, 32nd Street (Yuma County)
On October 27th, the Yuma County Public Works crews will be conducting a one-day project that will require lane restrictions at the corner of 3E and 32nd Streets.
