COVID saliva testing at AWC
Registration for drive-thru COVID tests is now open – reports Arlette Yousif from News 11
YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Yuma County and Arizona State University are teaming up again for a COVID testing event in the parking lot of Arizona Western College this Saturday, February 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
All COVID guidelines are enforced at the test site.
Anyone taking the COVID saliva test is not allowed to eat or drink at least 30 minutes before your appointment, says Diana Gomez, district director for public health services in Yuma County.
Gomez explains that testing is still critical even if you don’t have symptoms. Saliva tests are less invasive, yet just as accurate as nasal tests.
Results are usually available within 24 hours.
Pre-registration on the ASU Biodesign Institute website is required. To register, the participants must enter the agency code SALIVATEST.
AWC is located at 2020 S Ave 8 E, Yuma, AZ 85365.
On Tuesday in the early issue of News 11, Arlette Yousif spoke to Gomez about COVID testing and when the county hopes to move on to the next vaccination phase.
