Centenarian celebrates her 105th birthday
Yuma Senior Living is committed to ensuring a safe environment for residents
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Just over a week ago, the Yuma Senior Living (YSL) facility did not report any COVID-19 cases among residents.
Saturday marks another milestone: the celebration of Floriene Bakken’s 105th birthday.
“I’m just so grateful! So happy that God kept my brain running and that I can think and be grateful, and I’m grateful,” said Bakken.
The YSL released a statement Monday notifying the community that it has been working with local health partners to complete both rounds of COVID-19 vaccinations for all of its residents and team members.
“Working closely with my department heads and caregivers, we were able to coordinate the smooth administration of the two doses needed to prevent future infections for residents and staff,” said Deborah Hall, Executive Director of YSL.
YSL will continue to test each new resident before they move in, and will regularly conduct tests for its current residents and employees to protect the health and safety of all.
“We are continuing to seek guidance and compliance with protocol requirements with the Arizona Department of Health, but we hope things will return to normal soon,” added Executive Director Hall.
While improved safety measures like health checkups, social distancing and wearing of masks remain in place for a short period of time, YSL now allows family visits in the community entrance hall with a negative COVID-19 test checked.
