Broncs women go 1-2 for week | Sports activities
The Parker Broncs girls’ basketball team went 1-2 for three road games last week, losing to the Camp Verde Cowboys and the Valley Christian Trojans before defeating the Kingman Bulldogs to close out the week.
The Broncs end the week rated No. 20 in Arizona Interscholastic Association Power Points. They have a strong shot at the postseason, and they look like they will qualify for a “play-in” game for the state tournament.
The week started with the Broncs losing a heartbreaker to Camp Verde by a score of 44-43 on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Two days later, on Feb. 25, they lost to Valley Christian, 42-33. They closed out the week on Friday, Feb. 26, with a 62-36 win over Kingman.
The Broncs are now 4-3 against their 3A West opponents and in third place in the region behind the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks and Wickenburg Wranglers. They are 6-5 against 3A teams and 9-6 overall.
If the Broncs defeat Kingman, another 3A west rival, on March 2, they will tie with Wickenburg for second place in the region as the Wranglers have no more section games left. Who will be awarded second place by the AIA will depend on how the Wranglers do in their remaining two games and how the Broncs do in their two games after the Kingman game.
The Kingman game on March 2 will be the Broncs last home game of the 2021 regular season. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in the O.B. Francis Gym. They’ll go on the road to play San Luis on March 3 and then close out the season at Odyssey Institute on March 5.
Here are the standings for the 3A West as they head into the final week of the 2021 regular season. Teams are listed by their records in the region, their records against 3A teams and overall records.
